A Decent Proposal is the fourth episode of the first season of Quantum Leap, and the fourth episode of the series overall. It aired on October 10, 2022.

Summary

Ben leaps to 1980s Los Angeles and into the body of Eva Sandoval, a no-nonsense bounty hunter in the midst of securing an elusive target; Ben remembers more about his own life.

Synopsis

July 29, 1981: Ben's first leap into a woman is into Eva Sandoval, a bounty hunter in 1981 Los Angeles. Addison tells Ben he is there to locate Tammy Jean Jessup, a bail skip, but inadvertently ruins a marriage proposal to Eva from her boyfriend and partner, Jake. Ben learns that Tammy Jean is on the run from the cartel and is trying to flee town with her boyfriend, Zack. Ben and Jake catch her at her apartment and after being chased by two members of the cartel and losing them, Tammy Jean escapes Ben and Jake while they discuss the proposal, and Eva and Jake’s future together.

Ben and Jake track Tammy Jean to Zack's club only to discover that Tammy Jean is Carla, the head of the cartel, as they witness her murder Zack. Ultimately, Ben and Jake are able to arrest Tammy Jean and she goes to prison for Zack’s murder. Ben is also able to save Jake and Eva's relationship and Ziggy reveals the two get married and have two children. As Addison is disclosing Ziggy’s reveal, Ben remembers the woman he loves and is in a relationship with is Addison. After Addison confirms he is right, Ben leaps into the Old West.

In 2022, Ziggy is still running slow while Ian tries to limit Janis's access into the system. Jenn reveals to Addison that Ben has been keeping secrets from the team for the past six months while Magic reveals to Ian his own history with Quantum Leap, recounting the time Sam leapt into him in Vietnam and that he restarted the project to honor Sam and, if possible, bring him home. Ian and Jenn resolve to save Ben from the same fate as Sam and bring him home.

• Despite Magic's story of being 'jumped into' by Sam in the original show, Quantum Leap is one of the few TV shows Ernie Hudson did not appear on over the past few decades. (Though it is normal for a character to be played by two separate actors for older and younger appearances)
