Layne Beamer (born December 26, 1958) played the part of leapee USAF test pilot Tom Stratton in the two episode Quantum Leap series premiere story arc, the episodes "Genesis: Part 1" and "Genesis: Part 2". In addition to his appearance on QL, Layne has also made guest appearances on such popular TV shows as CBS-TV's Murder, She Wrote, NBC's 3rd Rock From The Sun, Fraser, FOX-TV's Melrose Place, and The Pretender. He also has appeared in such films as One False Move (1992), Roswell (1994) and Kill the Man (1999). He appeared as a contestant on Classic Concentration in 1988[1].
Born and raised in the rural town of Fostoria, OH, a Toledo suburb, Layne worked as a professional actor for 25 years before answering the call to Pastor he first heard as a teenager. A 2010 graduate of the Claremont School of Theology with a Master of Divinty degree, he served McCarty Memorial Christian Church while receiving his seminary training.[1] [2]

Wife Michyl-Shannon and 17-year-old son Shayne reside in Whitter, CA, where he has served as the lead pastor of the First Christian Church of Whittier there since 2011.[1][2]
