Memphis Melody was the 21st episode of Season 5 of Quantum Leap, also the 96th episode in the series. Written by Robin Jill Bernheim, the episode, which was directed by James Whitmore, Jr., premiered on NBC-TV on April 20, 1993.

Synopsis

While impersonating the King, Elvis Presley, Sam must save a Memphis Belle from a bad marriage.

Storyline

July 3, 1954: As future pop/rock music icon Elvis Presley in Memphis (the leapee is played by Michael St. Gerard in uncredited cameo appearance), Sam, as Elvis prepares for his first recording for Sun Records and it's label owner and record producer Sam Phillips (Garn Stephens). Sam must help a struggling female musician named Sue Anne Winters (Mary Elizabeth McGlynn) to make wise decisions concerning her troubled marriage and not give up on her musical career, while, at the same time, ensure that he doesn't prevent the soon to be future "king of rock 'n' roll" from being discovered by Phillips, and that music history isn't changed as a result.
