Howard Lee Sherman (born June 11, 1949, Chicago, Illinois) is an American screen and voice actor known as Sherman Howard. He appeared as Hank Rickett, father of Butchie Rickett, whom Dr. Samuel Beckett leaps into to save his wife, Emma Rickett, from a death from a cliff fall in the episode "Runaway" in Season 3 (episode #11) of the series Quantum Leap.

Howard began his acting career at the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco in 1971. While a member of ACT's repertory company, he appeared in the roles of Glendenning in David Storey's The Contractor, The Archangel Gabriel in Nagle Jackson's The Mystery Cycle, James in Harold Pinter's The Collection, and Gratiano in The Merchant of Venice, along with roles in both Antony and Cleopatra and Caesar and Cleopatra. He appeared as Archie in Tom Stoppard's Jumpers in the premier season of Chicago's Northlight Theatre Company.

Films/TV[]

He began his Hollywood career on the small screen, with a part in the ABC-TV soap opera General Hospital. Other TV appearances include Tales from the Darkside, Ryan's Hope, L.A. Law, The Adventures of Superboy, Seinfeld', Sliders, Home Improvement, Walker, Texas Ranger, The Jeff Foxworthy Show, Nash Bridges, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: DS9, and Star Trek: Voyager, Law and Order, and his most recent TV appearance, a 2011 episode of Person of Interest.

Howard also became a voice actor, appearing in the animated series' Men In Black (with Keith Diamond), Extreme Ghostbusters, Jumanji, Superman, Batman Beyond, and several video games.

His movie career includes roles in Three Fugitives (with Bruce McGill), K-9, Lethal Weapon 2, The Hit List, Retroactive, The Man from Elysian Fields, and his most recent film role, in You Belong To Me.

Personal life[]

Howard married actress Donna Bullock in May 1988; they have one daughter, Hanna.
